What is a Stephen Minister?

  • a child of God who walks beside a hurting person
  • a caring Christian friend who really listens
  • a lay person who has recieved 50 hours of training in how to provide distinctively Christian care

Help is available to you and to all those who need it. The opportunity to be a care giver is also there for those who feel called to service as a Stephen Minister.

Stephen Ministry at
Central College Church

Jesus said, "Love one another even as I have loved you." - - John15:12

The Stephen Ministry Program expands the Christ-centered caregiving that we provide to members of our church family and others in the community. Our trained Stephen Ministers are dedicated laypersons who help our pastors reach and care for those who are experiencing challenges in their lives.

Stephen Ministry is...
a program of Central College Church that equips laypersons to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances, both in our congregation and community.

Stephen Ministry helps meet the needs of individuals who are...

  • hospitalized or terminally ill;
  • bereaved or in a job crisis;
  • new church members;
  • disabled or homebound;
  • lonely or in a spiritual crisis;
  • looking for a caring Christian friend
