REFLECTIONS...continued
Doesn’t its message of amazing grace prompt us
to a certain measure of reckless abandon? It urges us to reach out to
others in ways that will benefit them but often might make us appear foolish.
Willimon also suggests that ministers are often “too eager to make
sure that everyone understands, that everyone
gets it.” This inevitably means that “too much of the obvious
is explained, and too little of the mysterious is
described.”
In challenging economic times for our nation we are so blessed as a church
family to be caught up in what seems a
great groundswell of God’s Spirit. God himself has pulled us together
in a mighty, miraculous way through “The Best is
Yet to Come” to now make possible what appeared unattainable. Our youth
and adults are singing, playing, and ringing
with such spirit and passion and are sent out on summer mission trips to
share as well as grow in the faith. We are
thankful for what we can do through the mission of our Food Pantry -- especially
now. A new Shepherd’s Network is
being formed for those who find themselves out of work.
Right now, as we have strived together as a congregation to gain a better
grip on God’s Word how wonderful it is to
discover that God has strengthened his grip on us!
Thanks be to God! He is truly faithful!
In His name,
Pastor
David
